at St. John Ambulance Hall, Consett, Co. Durham.

We couldn't have asked for a more entertaining and fun show to see for our first panto trip of the season than this one!  In a special one-off performance, Consett Phoenix Youth theatre group presented an imaginative twist on the traditional pantomime, called Panto's Got Talent.
The talent show premise allowed the group to mix all our favourite pantomime elements together in a really original format: there was a lovely romantic duet; a comedy dance-off; and several cracking solo singing performances; all for the benefit of a hilarious panel of judges, watched over ably by presenters Mel and Sue (Bailey Green and Imogen Harrison).  Two moments that really captured the pantomime spirit were: a brilliantly funny dance routine to Single Ladies by dame Stella Artoise (Lee McKinnell Harrison) and her fellas (Leon Boyle and Lewis Oxley Jenkins); and a suitably evil performance from Abanazar (Anna Johnson), with her comedy sidekick Pablo (Jennifer Rupp).
It's clear to see that this group is very close-knit.  With ages ranging from 7 to 19, they work fantastically well together, supporting each other as an amazing team.  They put this show together in just five weeks, collaborating throughout on everything from script to staging, with the help of director Catriona Uren.  The result was a hugely entertaining show to a packed house, ending with tea, mince pies and a Christmas singalong.  And what's more, the show was FREE!  Thanks for a fun afternoon, guys!
